Ranch Furniture started in 1979 as a hobby by the first owner, Mr. Piet Meyer. Mr. Thys Kruger purchased the business in 1995, which at the stage consisted of a factory with 4 retail outlets based at Northgate, East Rand Mall, Potchefstroom and Bloemfontein. In 2006 Karin Kruger, Ockert vd Berg and Charl Coetzer purchased the business with Karin Kruger as new managing director.

Since 1979 the Ranch Furniture group has grown to a medium sized business with 6 owned retail outlets (Potchefstroom, Klerksdorp, Vanderbijlpark, Randburg, Boksburg, Pretoria) and
1 franchise (Nelspruit), providing employment to approximately 180 people. Ranch Furniture is a company committed to service and quality. The furniture manufactured in the factory is hand made and therefore every article manufactured has a unique character. The factory and head office at 38 Ross Street, Potchefstroom was part of the original purchase. Due to the growth of the business, buying in the adjacent property at 38 Ross Street expanded the manufacturing capacity. A unique manufacturing system was developed. A system with acceptable production and quality levels were introduced that ensures maximum output and maximum income. Contractors are paid once finished goods are delivered and approved by Production Managers.

In 2006 a new vision and mission statement were developed in which the company strive for global success. A franchise concept was implemented in 2006 that gives entrepreneurs and individuals the opportunity to own a Ranch Furniture retail franchise. At the end of the financial year Ranch Furniture had more than 70% of the current log market and the aim of the company is to have at least a 10% growth in the next two years as it is the company's goal to provide furniture of high quality and to expand its current market share to more cities in South Africa as well as internationally.

Today, after 27 years, Ranch Furniture is seen as a household name especially in its niche market of manufacturing log furniture. With the excellent services and products the business has become one of the best furniture factories in South Africa and are seen as the largest manufacturer and retailer of log furniture in South Africa. Other than supply to its own retail network and client base, the group also exported furniture to Portugal, Australia, Dubai,
Saudi-Arabia, Belgium and Ireland.

With a wide variety of products, Ranch Furniture is able to offer clients anything that will satisfy their need especially the need for custom made furniture, bars and kitchens. Ranch Furniture specialises in the following:

• 2003 Botswana BTIF award;
• 2006 Rand Easter Show: Award for best outdoor expo working with
  Redtruth Thatching.
